3 Character Traits Every Blogger Should Have

Note: Like every smart blogger, I use affiliate marketing, which means I’ll receive a commission if you purchase through my links, at no extra cost to you. Please read the full disclosure for more information.

As a blogger or content creator, there are certain traits that will help you be successful.

In this blog post I’ll cover 3 of those and why they’re important:

They are:

  • Problem Solving
  • Specialized Nerdism
  • Humble Stubbornness

So, let’s dive right into these positive traits for bloggers!

Problem Solving

You know how the path to success is always a straight line, right?

Well… no!

Far from it in fact, as a blogger there are many problems that can arise when you least expect them:

  • Maybe an algorithm update happens and you lose a third of your traffic overnight.
  • An error with a problem causes severe issues with your blog.
  • An affiliate program or ad network shuts down and you lose your income.
  • Your blog gets hacked and infected with malware.

What are you going to do?

One of the characteristics of successful bloggers (to be) is that they quickly jump to their feet and solve the problems. No matter how big or small they are, these blogging superstars will figure it out and figure it out quickly!

The more effective you are at identifying and solving problems, the better you’ll do!

Specific Nerdism

I don’t need to tell you that building a successful blog takes time.

That is why specific nerdish is required if you want to succeed as a blogger. And what I mean by this is that you have to be passionate about something and center your blog around that.

For example, I’m a huge marketing nerd.

I love doing marketing for my blog as well as talking about it. I can talk about and discuss marketing strategies for hours on end. It wouldn’t really feel like boring work or a chore to me, it’s fun!

So, what are YOU passionate about?

Those are the things you should focus your blog around.

Here’s why:

If you don’t blog about a topic that you love, a topic that you’re a huge nerd for, you most likely will not succeed! You need to enjoy the journey and not just the destination of building a successful blog. You’ll spend a lot of time on your blog, so you need to love what you do.

Humble Stubbornness

Firstly, let go of the idea that stubbornness is a bad trait to have, it is not.

Especially as a blogger or other content creator,

Everyone has an opinion, and they’ll give it to you whether you asked for it or not.

Whenever people tell you that it would be better to quit now and save yourself all the effort because they “know” you’ll fail anyway. That’s when you’ve got to be stubborn enough to not listen to them and do your own thing anyway.

It applies to all sorts of things as well:

If you are 100% certain a specific course of action is best for your blog, then you have to be stubborn enough to follow through with that course of action. Even when other people tell you that you should take another course of action.

But… and here’s the big but:

Whenever you are not completely convinced, you have to be humble!

You have to be open enough to listen to other ideas. Be humble enough to admit that you don’t know everything, and be willing to try out other ideas. Because implementing their tips and strategies, might be the things that help you grow your blog significantly faster.

Of course, there are many more beneficial traits for bloggers, but there are 3 of the less conventional ones that I wanted to share with you.

Do you have these traits?
